Former Coventry City Academy manager Greg Rioch has said that Callum Wilson should stay at Coventry City for another season.
“There won’t be any harm whatsoever in Callum staying another season at Coventry City," said Rioch to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner.
“I think he will score goals again next year but what he needs is a clean bill of health by staying fit and not suffering any more long term injuries.
“The only thing is teams in League One won’t play such a high line against him now; there’s no chance of that because of his devastating pace in behind people, so he has got to find other ways of scoring goals from in front of them.
"If Coventry City were to sell Callum then they have got to find the goals to replace him, there’s no doubt about it.
“The worry is that the club scored 71 goals last year. They have lost the 15 that Leon Clarke scored, the 12 goals that Franck Moussa scored and if they lost Callum’s 21 league goals then they’d have to replace almost 50 goals in all.
“You’ll get goals from some players who come in but you have to be getting up to 60 goals a season, as a team, to be comfortable.
“So no matter how much money is offered for Callum, it might not be worth it to sell him for the amount of goals he could score to give the club a comfortable place, at the very least, in League One. That’s the way I’d look at it.
“But it will be dictated by the club and Callum, and as long as both are happy then I’m sure he’ll stay.”
