Coventry City club captain Sammy Clingan is looking forward to the first game of the season against local rivals Leicester City on Saturday.
Leicester City have sold over 6,000 tickets for the curtain raiser and with a crowd well in excess of 20,000 expected at The Ricoh Arena, Clingan is keen to prove his side are capable of competing with one the promotion favourites.
Sven-Goran Eriksson has spent a lot of money assembling his side for the assault on the Championship title, but the home side boss Andy Thorn is hoping to attract a big following of Sky Blues supporters to cheer on his side.
Sammy Clingan, in his match day programme notes said, "When the fixture list came out we looked at it straightaway and saw there were
a couple of tasty ones to start with!"
"I think Leicester will be pushing for promotion this season but we will be looking to perform to our best and get the win that we want from this match."
"It's an important game for the fans as they are local rivals from just down the M69 and they are always good matches. I think we've drawn the last few matches we've played so they are usually tight games.
"We want to go one better this season and get that win to kick off the season in the best possible way."
The game is an early kick off at 12:30 on Saturday.
