Coventry City have sent Baily Cargill back to his parent club of AFC Bournemouth to have a scan.
The defender injured his ankle during the 1-0 defeat at home to Rochdale and left wearing a protective boot.
Tony Mowbray told Keiran Crowley: “Baily [Cargill] has gone back to Bournemouth. He’ll be getting a scan today. His ankle was swollen and blown up after the game.
“After discussions between the physio departments it was best to get Baily back to Bournemouth and get a scan.
“We’ll speak to Bournemouth and decide what is best for the lad."
