Portsmouth FC have said that former Coventry City captain Carl Baker can leave the club.
Kenny Jackett left Baker out of the squad for Pompey's game with Walsall and has told Baker, who is to become a father again, that he can leave the League One side before the transfer window closes.
Jackett is quoted as saying: "Carl’s disapppointed to be out of the team.
"If there’s a solution outside of the club both parties would be open to it.‘Nothing is close but the transfer window is next Thursday and both parties would consider a move if interest was shown.
"Carl won’t travel on Saturday.‘If a solution can be found, both parties would be keen, but that’s not the case yet and he’s still a Portsmouth player."
Whilst many City supporters would welcome back Baker with open arms, Mark Robins said last week that he was having to balance his books and players may need to be off-loaded before any interest in Baker can be shown.
