Carl Baker has said his good byes to the Coventry City supporters after termininating his contract.
Baker wrote on his Facebook page: "After a long few hours late last night, I decided to agree terms with Coventry City Football Club to terminate my contract.
Obviously my first choice option was to stay and fight for my position but it was made very clear that I wasn't going to play and anyone who knows me will no that sitting in the stands all season is not an option for me and career wise it would be the right decision for me and my family to move on and start a new chapter and challenge in my life which I'm excited about.
This is a great club full of great people who do unbelievable work and are unsung heroes behind the scenes, I honestly don't have a bad word to say about anyone at the club I have met and made some great friends who I'll hopefully always keep in touch with.
This past 4/5 years have flew by for me and can honestly say I have loved every minute of it, that's mainly down to the best fans in the country the amount of support and good luck messages I've had is overwhelming and very much appreciated thank you all so much for making my time here so special for me and my family.
One of the proudest moments in my life was to wear the armband against Arsenal away in front of so many fans, to captain a club of this size from where I have come from fighting since the age of 16 to survive having nothing and earning £50 a week for years with a young child is amazing for me.
I'd also like to thank my wife Lynsey and the two best boys ever Louis and jaden future Cov players ha they have been on the journey with me all the way and always been there for me through good and bad, like they say behind every good man is a good women.
Lastly I'd like to wish everyone at the club, staff, players and fans all the very best I'm so happy the club is back home to the Ricoh finally and hope this can be the driving force to get fans back on board and help the team get back to wear they belong #PUSB."
