The draw for the first round of this season's Carling Cup is due to take place on Thursday 16th June. Coventry City will face one of the unseeded teams in the northern section of the draw.
The first round of the Carling cup is divided into Northern and Southern sections each with a seeded and unseeded section.
Coventry City are one of the seeded teams in the northern section and will face a tie with one of the following unseeded teams:
Accrington Stanley, Bradford City, Burton Albion, Bury, Chesterfield, Crewe Alexandra, Hartlepool United, Macclesfield Town, Morecambe, Notts County, Oldham Athletic, Port Vale, Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday, Shrewsbury Town, Tranmere Rovers, Walsall.
The seeded teams in the northern section are: Barnsley, Blackpool, Burnley, Carlisle United, Coventry City, Derby County, Doncaster Rovers, Huddersfield Town, Hull City, Leeds United, Leicester City, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, Preston North End, Rochdale, Scunthorpe United, Sheffield United.
The seeded sides in the southern section are: Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Bristol City, Cardiff City, Colchester United, Crystal Palace, Exeter City, Ipswich Town, Leyton Orient, Millwall, MK Dons, Peterborough United, Portsmouth, Reading, Southampton, Watford, West Ham United.
The unseeded sides in the southern section are: Aldershot, Barnet, Bristol Rovers, Charlton Athletic, Cheltenham Town, Crawley Town/AFC Wimbledon, Dagenham & Redbridge, Gillingham, Hereford United, Northampton Town, Oxford United, Plymouth Argyle, Southend United, Stevenage, Swindon Town, Torquay United, Wycombe Wanderers, Yeovil Town.
In a twist to the usual format of the Carling Cup, there will be a preliminary qualifying round to be played between Crawley Town and AFC Wimbledon. This is because Birmingham City have a bye into the next round because of their qualification for the Europa Cup.
