According to reports in the North, Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott is one of six candidates being considered by the City Board and Associate Directors.
Abbott, who hails from Wyken in Coventry and is a former Sky Blue coming through the City ranks at the same time as the likes of John Hendrie and Perry Suckling, has been manager of The Cumbrians since November 2008.
Not helped by injuries this season, he has taken Carlisle to ninth in the League One table after taking them to two Wembley finals.
The Newcastle based Journal cites names being under consideration to replace Aidy Boothroyd who was sacked on Monday as Chris Hughton, Roberto Di Matteo, former City player and manager Gordon Strachan and a partnership of Richard Shaw and Dion Dublin.
