Coventry City U18’s coach and Reserve Team Boss Lee Carsley has praised the players currently playing for City U18’s.
The Sky Blues sit five points clear at the top of the Academy League Group B table and speaking to the CT, Carsley praised the players by saying: “They’re a great group. They want to learn and they’re willing to work hard and go that extra mile. It’s not a results-based business – it’s about the people we produce – but I want to win every game. And I want the players to want to win every game.
“I want them to win whether they’re sitting at home on the Xbox, or playing five-a-side, or just a game of head tennis, because they’re in a very competitive sport.”
City U18’s don’t play the Diamond formation favoured by Andy Thorn with Greg Rioch and Lee Carsley prefering their own brand of entertaining football.
“We can do any formation we want because we’re more about giving the lads an education on why different systems work or don’t work and what benefits we might get from playing a certain way.
“We’re giving them the tools so that if they make it to the first team the players can adjust to different systems.”
