Gary Gardner has said that he spoke to Coventry City U18's and Reserve Team coach Lee Carsley about what the Sky Blues were like as a club before he agreed to join on an initial month's loan from Aston Villa.
The North Warwickshire based midfielder told Sky Blue Player: "A few top of the table clubs were after me and wanted me to join them but I phoned Lee Carsley, who is a close family friend, this week and spoke to him about the club.
"He said it was quality with a good group of lads and the banter is great. That is what you need in football with the right environment and Lee (Carsley) said the gaffer is top quality so it was an easy decision in the end.
"The other clubs are top of the Championship but as long as I am playing football, living round the corner and Lee Carsley saying it is a great club, it was an easy decision to make in the end."
