Iain Dowie has said that the players will have to show him that they deserve to be at City next season. Said the City boss: "We had a momentum when I first arrived and now we have lost it the players must show me they deserve to be here next season by working hard to get it back.

"It is inconsistency I can't accept so everyone's future - and I know better than most that football is about short periods of time - is a short-term scenario.

"As a group we have got to fix that and that will include bringing players in and more players going out."
