Coventry City manager Mark Robins has said that the club are assessing Danny Philliskirk.
Robins and his backroom staff saw the second half of City's U21 game against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday and saw him show some excellent touches and an ability to pass the ball in the 3-1 victory.
For some of the City support, this was the second time, they had been impressed with Philliskirk, who scored twice and had a fine game for Sheffield United U21's against City earlier in the season when Andy Thorn was still first team manager.
Philliskirk, the son of the former Sheffield United and Bolton player, is out of contract after his deal at Bramall Lane expired on New Years Day.
"Danny is a clever player," said Mark Robins to the Coventry Telegraph.
"He had a move from Oldham to Chelsea for fairly big money for his age and it didn’t quite work out for him. He then went to Sheffield where again it didn’t work out and he’s eager to earn a contract somewhere. We’ll see – I’m having a look at him.
"He’s not lightening quick but he’s quick enough, creates chances and generally will score a goal. He’s just not had a run of games but we’ll assess him. He’s an intelligent footballer and I want to have good footballers in and around the club who can be effective in any system that we play."
