From the Private Eye maagzine Christmas Special - 10th December 2004.
"Further embarrassment for Geoffrey Robinson MP, who when not sitting in parliament or running the New Statesmanmoonlights as the president (and a major shareholder) in Coventry City FC. His sidekick, Mike McGinnity, chairman of Coventry City, is in the process of suing one of the club's own supporters for libel. The man on the receiving end is Neville Hadsley who runs an online Coventry City fanzine and message-board called Gary Mabbutt's Knee. What made the chairman reach for his lawyers was a comment which appeared for a mere three hours on the "fan's forum" section of the site, referring to Coventry's directors as "the rogues who 'run' our club". According to McGinnity, this is a gross libel on the board "most of whom have an established status in public life and whose honesty and status is and must be unimpeachable".
Can he really intend this description to include the former pay-master general whose exotic career in business and politics has landed him in so many scrapes (see Eyes passim). Shurely shome mishtake."
