Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has defended Gary McSheffrey who was booed by some of the crowd during the 1-0 win over Hartlepool United.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, City boss Steven Pressley said: “Let’s be absolutely clear, in the three games I’ve been in charge Gaz’s work ethic for the group has been terrific.
“The one thing I want is for players to express themselves but I also want them to play the defensive strategy we work towards. That calls for a lot of hard work and he is doing that.
“Gaz is working exceptionally hard for the team and a lot of his effort goes unnoticed but I have been really pleased with him.
“I would have loved him to have scored from the opportunity that fell to him at the weekend because I think his performances and work ethic merit that. But he’s doing great for the team.
“He’s very experienced now and when you put in the effort for the team your fellow players recognise that. I’m sure they appreciate the work he’s doing for the group just now and that’s vitally important.”
