Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has hit out at comments made by the BBC's Jonathan Pierce that City are waiting to see what other clubs come in for James Maddison.
Pierce said during his commentary of the Leicester V Tottenham FA Cup tie: “Spurs are reportedly interested in the Coventry teenager James Maddison but I think Coventry will wait to see if there’s anyone else interested before they sell.”
The City boss was less than happy and told the Coventry Telegraph: “It’s not about us trying to create any sort of auction or whatever for a young boy. He’s someone we all care about and want to do well for us.
“We talk on a regular basis to lots of clubs, particularly the ones we’ve taken loans from and yet every club in the Premier League is aware of every talented footballer, not just James Maddison; every footballer in every team that has talent to play at a higher level, but formal bids or formal inquiries for any of our players? No.”
