It is open to the public, but space will be limited. Each ceremony young talent from across the area are promoted, on the 23rd it’s the turn of the exciting Leamington band Rewards & Revenge, who will be entertaining our guests that day. All four inductees will be in attendance on the day.
Here’s some information on our next three inductees...
Charley Anderson (Sponsored by Skopes Menswear,Coventry) Charley is just as at home fighting causes for the world’s children as he is performing on stage. An original member of The Selecter, he lit up the stage with his flowing basslines and flowing dreadlocks. Very much a citizen of the world, home for Charley has included Hillfields, Kenya, Panama and Columbia, and now Rome. In Columbia he launched his epic “Ghetto Child” humanitarian project and continues to make music with a conscience.
Roddy Radiation Byers (Sponsored by Joanne Davies & Steph Hill) Roddy is the man responsible for putting the punk element into 2-Tone music, his supreme guitar playing style has always been an inspiration. His song “Hey Little Rich Girl” was famously covered by the late great Amy Winehouse, and compositions “Rat Race” and “Concrete Jungle” rate as some of The Specials most finger-on-the pulse compositions. Whether he’s skanking with The Specials or Rockin with The Skabilly Rebels his style and musicianship is unsurpassed.
Steve & Heather Taylor (Sponsored by Paul Todd) When Steve’s not playing with The Searchers or being Buddy Holly, his ‘other’ job is being half of the song writing team at Timeless Songs with his wife lyricist Heather Taylor. To Coventrians they are best known for writing and producing “Go For It” for Coventry City FC. To Daniel O’Donnell fans however they are held in awe for penning some of his biggest hits that have sold in huge quantities all over the globe. Shakin’ Stevens and many others have seen chart success thanks to Coventry’s most successful song writing partnership.
