Following pressure from City Councillor Brian Patton,Young said that this was due to the Arena not being ready for the start of the season. Young refused to reveal a figure claiming "I can't betray a commercial confidence of any of our tenants." but the sum is believed to be nowhere near the amount of money the Sky Blues lost for not being able to play a pre-season friendly against Barcelona and by having to switch the first league game to Norwich.
Young told the CET: "Ordinarily we wouldn't discuss our rental arrangements with any of our tenants, whether it was the football club, or a health club. "But given there was a debate at the Council House, (we will reveal) what we've agreed between the football club and the arena - which is nothing to do with the council. The club would enjoy a rent-free period from the beginning of the season until November 1, 2005."
