City Down To Eighth

Coventry City have dropped to eighth place in the Championship table after the 3-0 home defeat by Bristol City.

Birmingham City,who beat Barnsley 2-0, lead the table after winning all three of their opening league games.

Wolves are second following a 2-0 win at Ipswich with Bristol City third. In fourth are Preston who drew 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday with Sheffield United 3-1 winners at Blackpool in fifth and Charlton Athletic in sixth after a 4-2 win against Reading.

At the bottom, Barnsley have no points with Burnley, who drew 0-0 at nine men Crystal Palace (James Scowcroft was one of the players dismissed), having a single point as do Plymouth Argyle beaten 1-0 at home by Swansea.

In League One, Stephen Hughes opened his account for Walsall in a 2-1 defeat at Crewe whilst Lee Hughes hit a hat-trick for Oldham in a 4-0 win at Cheltenham.
