Coventry City manager Steven Pressley has drafted in defender Ryan Haines into the first team squad.

Haines has been in good for City U18's this season and has worked hard in his outings for City U21's which have included the last two wins at Derby yesterday and Birmingham City last week, due to fellow defender Jordan Willis picking up an ankle injury.

City boss Steven Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “Ryan has done great at left-back and because of injuries he will be pulled into the first-team group. He’s only 17 but he’s been involved in a number of sessions with the development group and played really well against Birmingham and Derby.

“With Jordan Willis’s injury we are very thin on the ground so it could be a good opportunity to bring him into the first team group. And that’s what we want to do at this club, promote our best young players.

“It will be a great experience for the kid and from my own experience working with a young group at Falkirk, kids often surprise you, they really do, and given the opportunity in the right structure, their progress can be very quick.

“He’s a young athletic full-back. He’s a good stature who is still to develop physically but he’s got good pace and understanding, so he’s an exciting prospect.”
