VICE PRESIDENT AND ATHLETE GET NEW YEARS HONOURS
City Vice-President John Clarke has been awarded an OBE. Mr Clarke who was City Chairman for a day before being deposed by Bryan Richardson and editor of the Coventry Weekly News was rewarded for his work in raising more than £1.5m for the NSPCC.
Olympic hero Marlon Devonish was awarded an MBE for winning a goal medal in in the 4x100 metres relay in Athens. Devonish who received a standing ovation from theose at the City v Ipswich game said: "It's been a great year. "I've won an Olympic medal,received a Blue Peter badge,been nominated for the team award at the BBC Sports Personality and topped it off with an MBE."
