City Hope To Get Stokes Deal Sorted

Coventry City are hoping to have the loan of Chris Stokes from Forest Green Rovers extended to the end of the season today.

Stokes has done well in the games he has played for City and Tony Mowbray said about him to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: "Fingers crossed we can get the continuation of young Stokes’s loan agreement sorted out today and move on.

“We’ll try to take that to the end of the season and I think it’s important to give the lad the opportunity to keep progressing. I spoke to his manager from Forest Green yesterday and fingers crossed we can get the paperwork sorted out and we move on.”

Mowbray, like the City support has liked what Stokes has done so far in matches and he said: “I think the games I’ve been involved with I have seen a progression in Chris and what I like about him is he’s a very conscientious player who tries to implement what you ask him to do.

“He was progressive up the pitch the other night and almost scored a goal or two, getting in their box at times. I like that in a footballer, that he tries to please and do what you ask him to do.

"He’s got a lot to improve on and he understands that because he’s come from Forest Green and he recognises that if he wants to play for this football club he has to continue to improve, and at this moment he’s doing that.

“He’s played a lot of football over the last few weeks and went down with a touch of cramp the other night so we’ll be thankful to get Saturday out of the way, hopefully with a positive result, and give the players a breather.”
