If comments on social media are anything to go by, Coventry City's statement tonight that they have filed their annual accounts with the Football League and Companies House, is impressing no-one.
City, for the first time in four seasons, announced that they had filed their accounts on the last day as stated in the Football League rules and will avoid a transfer embargo.
Comments flying round the internet tonight include:
"It is an embarrassment to think you need to announce it! It should be a matter of course not deserving a mention. For me it's a cheap attempt to say "look aren't we good boys and girls?"
"Shows how badly run @Coventry_City when the club tweets about actually filing accounts on time."
"it comes to something when a 'business' feels inclined to release a statement over something that should be standard practice."
