It is one year ago today that Coventry City sacked Steven Pressley and it was a decision which has proved to be for the best.
Steven Pressley, is a decent man but some of the football City were playing last season was hugely unacceptable. Add to this, the amount of times City did not get a result and there is no doubt in my mind that had he not been sacked, then City would have been in League Two this season.
Getting in Tony Mowbray was a master-stroke. Mowbray is a football man and not scared to mention that he is a football fan, who can recall his first ever game and who won the FA Cup every year since the 1970's.
Mowbray gave the City support some hope and has re-united the support which was vastly divided whilst Pressley was in charge with thousands refusing to go to the Ricoh Arena.
He has also given the City support hope that a place back in the Championship is to be forthcoming and results this season have proved that. Ok, City are currently sixth in the table, but they can beat anyone of the teams they have left to play and promotion either automatically or via the play-offs is not out of the question, something many of us would have settled for back in August.
Having a name in football like Tony Mowbray as manager, has allowed City to attract a better class of player. Who would have predicted that former England international Joe Cole would be chomping at the bit to get out of Aston Villa and sign permanently for the Sky Blues, for example?
This season, I have really enjoyed watching Coventry City home and away and time has shown that sacking the manager a year ago was the best way forward for Coventry City FC.
