Coventry City have issued a formal apology following to those who had problems getting a ticket for City's League Cup tie against Portsmouth.
Many tickets never arrived or were not sent and supporters from both teams had to join the queues collecting tickets. These queues peaked as kick off time got nearer and supporters were still being processed fifteen minutes into the game with two turnstiles having been opened to accept cash payments.
The club said in a press statement:
“Coventry City FC and Ticketmaster would like to issue a formal apology to any supporter who experienced difficulties purchasing tickets for the Portsmouth fixture last night.
“The Club have teamed up with a new ticketing provider for the 2016/17 season, and although the service is still very much in its infancy, we value our supporters’ feedback and have a commitment to provide our fans with the best matchday experience possible.
“With that in mind, the club have taken the decision to reintroduce cash turnstiles for the upcoming Shrewsbury and Bury fixtures, alongside the option to purchase tickets online.
“The print at home option will still be available, as well as the option to purchase on the day at the Stadium Ticket Office, which will be fully operational from 11.00am on Saturday 13th and 10.30am on Tuesday 16th.
“Season Ticket sales will officially end on Friday 12th at 11.59pm, and any supporter who wishes to purchase a Season Ticket between now and then will be issued with paper tickets until their card arrives.”
