Coventry City have today issued the following statement following the comments made by Dale Evans on BBC CWR last night.
The statement is as follows:
Following a radio interview on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire on Friday evening, Coventry City Football Club would like to clarify the situation for supporters.
No talks have been held by any member of staff or board member with Dale Evans regarding the sale of Coventry City Football Club, and no offer has been made or received. No meeting is scheduled with Mr Evans, nor are there plans to do so.
Dave Boddy, Chief Executive of the club, spoke to Mr Evans out of courtesy following the receipt of an initial e-mail from him via Mark Hornby, and in a two-minute conversation said he would forward his number to the Chairman, which he has done so. Tim Fisher has not spoken to Mr Evans.
The club confirm that his wealth manager has not been in touch with Mark Hornby or anybody else at the club, and no proof of funds has been received.
No member of staff has had any discussion with him about any figures regarding either a sale or debt.
The interview on Friday only created unnecessary and unwarranted speculation among supporters and media. The club would ask that media and their interviewees act more responsibly in future matters of this type.
The club and its staff are only concerned today about the visit of Colchester United to the Ricoh Arena this afternoon and hopefully getting back to winning ways.
