City Ladies Go Goal Crazy At Knowle

Coventry City Ladies started their defence of the Birmingham County FA Women's Cup title with a 14-0 victory at Knowle.

Chris Holloway used the game to look at a number of players from the squad and reserves including recent signings and players returning from holiday's and injuries and his side was vastly changed from the one which beat Cardiff City last Sunday.

This might not have been the strongest side City could have fielded but it was one that was way too good for Knowle.

CIty took the lead in the fourth minute when Nat Reay played in Archibald who squared for Hannah George to sidefoot home at the second attempt.

Five minutes later, Cherelle Archibald scored a second for the Sky Blues from 22 yards. This was followed by Nat Reay making it three with a side foot finish at the far post from Whitfield's cross and Cherelle Archibald side footing in Nicole Dale's inch perfect square ball for a fourth.

A terrific cross in again by captain Nicole Dale was headed in by Nat Reay for the fifth and before the end of the first half, Cherelle Archibald completed her hat-trick from a Dale cross.

The goals did not stop in the second half with Hannah George getting the seventh and Nat Reay completing her hat-trick.

On came Courtney Sweetman-Kirk and she banged in a quick hat-trick to see City 11-0 up.

The score could have been even greater if the City forwards were not continually pulled back by an assistant for offside but when they did get through, debutante Becky Anderson scored as did Hannah George before Nicola Dale who set up seven goals scored the fourteenth and final goal, which was not the biggest in the club's history but a satisfying one.

City team: Graham, Whitfield, Miles, Mole, Wilcox, Anderson, Blake, George, Dale, Archibald, Reay. Subs  Sweetman-Kirk, Clarke, Mellor

WPL National Division Scores Manchester City 1-0 Barnet
