City Looking To Extend Player Contracts

Coventry City are keen to tie down Callum Wilson, Cyrus Christie and Leon Clarke to longer contracts.

The trio all attracted interest before the transfer window closed and are expected to do so once again when the window re-opens on January 1st.

With money saved after clearing out all of the players that were on too high wages, City who are still under a rolling transfer embargo, are looking to recycle the money towards their current players who have impressed this season.

City boss Steven Pressley told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “The club has shown an intent and I think the next phase of this has to be tying down our young players because we are trying to put foundations in place,” he said.

“I have spoken to quite a number of players and told them I want to speak to their agents next week and start the ball rolling on renegotiating of contracts.

“Callum is one. He just signed a one-year deal in the summer but that’s how football can change.”
