Coventry City could, according to rumours, be likely favourites to sign Richard Wood from Sheffield Wednesday in the January transfer window if a take over does not go through.
Sources in Sheffield have indicated that the 23 year old defender could be up for sale if a buyout of The Owls were not to happen and the cash strapped club was forced to sell to surivive.
Wednesday are subject to a £40m from businessman Geoff Sheard which has yet to go through after nine months of talks and have also been reported as sounding out other interested parties.
Any possible sale of the defender would alert Chris Coleman who has already shown a big interest in the Ossett born player.
