One of Coventry City's summer targets has opted to join fellow league One club Doncaster Rovers instead of Coventry.
Thorn has hoped to sign midfielder David Syers from Bradford Rovers, but the 24 year old has opted to sign for Dean Saunders' Doncaster.
It is thought that Syers was keen on the proposed move to The Ricoh, but the transfer embargo meant a deal could not be done immediately so City lost out.
Coventry's development director Steve Waggott, who is in charge of recruitment told the CT's Andy Turner: “We have got quite a long list of players who we want to target and who we feel will do a job for us in League One and he is one of many.
“It’s obviously still very quiet in the market with clubs having not returned for pre-season yet but there’s going to be loads of movement between now and then. We are in discussions with other players to put our marker down on quite an extensive list to be honest.
“We are not going to get them all and with the embargo still there at the moment we are doing whatever we can to keep in the game and keep discussions going.
“Everyone at the club is working really hard to get the embargo lifted ASAP because if we are going to start trading again we’ve got to get it lifted and from the footballing side of the club that’s our top priority to get that done.
"It will release the blockage and then we can move ahead in a more open and progressive manner.”
