The Sky Blues now have twelve points from thirteen games and are two points ahead of Shrewsbury Town who were beaten 3-0 at home by Sheffield United who moved up to fourth in the table.
City have the same points as third from bottom Chesterfield who were beaten 1-0 at home by Fleetwood Town and they are three points behind fourth from bottom Oldham Athletic who beat League One leaders Scunthorpe United 2-0.
Scunthorpe lead the table by three points from Bradford City who drew 1-1 with Southend United.
Bolton Wanderers stay third after a 2-0 win at Millwall and Rochdale are down to fifth after a 3-0 loss at Swindon Town.
Port Vale moved up to sixth place after a 1-1 home draw with Charlton Athletic.
Elsewhere, AFC Wimbledon won 2-1 at Bury, Gillingham drew 1-1 with Walsall, MK Dons drew 3-3 with Bristol Rovers and Peterborough beat Northampton 3-0.
