Former Coventry City youngster David Pipe has been sent to prison for three years and two months after pleading guilty to wounding with intent.
Pipe, who made 21 first team appearances for the Sky Blues and also played for Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham Town, was charged after a fight over a girl in Bristol in September last year in which a man's skull was fractured with a part drunk wine bottle.
He pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grevious bodily harm at Bristol Crown Court and was sentenced to three years and two months.
