According to reports, former Coventry City midfielder Michael Hughes is heading a consortium to buy Sittingbourne FC.
The Kent club are in the Ryman League South Division One and Hughes who made eighteen appearances for City during 2007/2008 is expected to take over as manager after being involved in coaching at St Neots since he retired from professional football.
Current Sittingbourne boss Gary Abbott told BBC Radio Kent: "I'm sure he'll want to come in and be manager.
"I don't know what's really going on but he wants to be involved and perhaps if he does take over then I'm worried about losing my job."
He added: "I don't want to be out of football but until we come to that hurdle we'll worry about that then.
"My guess is that he's probably going to bring a few boys over from Ireland.
"So it's probably not going to be good news for me and if that's the case I'll be looking for another job."
