Former Coventry City manager Andy Blair broke his fifth metatarsal in his left foot celebrating his son’s Matty’s goal for York City which sent them to the FA Trophy Final at Wembley.

Blair, who was at the CCFPA Legends Day on Saturday, told the CT: “A cross came in from the left and Matty’scored a classic far post header. I went absolutely berserk.

“I was behind the goal on the end of the row so I got up and sprinted down the terrace to the front, as have all the York fans.

"There was a surge and I tripped, I don’t know if I slipped or was pushed, but I fell on the step and thought ‘That’s a bit sore’.

“I thought I just had twisted my ankle and walked a mile to the car.

“Luckily, my brother was driving back from Luton but when we got back I had to drive from his house in Nuneaton to my house in Fillongley.

“It was only when I got home and took my trainer off I knew it was broken.”
