Two former Coventry City players and one former City Academy youngster are in the Team GB squad for the London 2012 Olympics Football tournament.

Former Sky Blue Stuart Pearce has named Craig Bellamy, Jack Cork and Danny Sturridge in his squad which is made up of English and five Welsh players. Both the Scottish FA's and Northern Irish FA's refused to allow their players to play.

Pearce left out David Beckham and said to the BBC; "Form plays a big part and I don't think there is a manager around who picks on sentiment.

"I have to be comfortable when I have made decisions based solely on football grounds alone, nothing else."

The team will play warm up friendlies against Mexico in Spain and Brazil in Middlesbrough before facing Senegal in a tournament that played with the assistance of Football governing body FIFA but is not one of their ranked tournaments.

The Team GB squad is  J Allen (Swansea), C Bellamy (Liverpool), R Bertrand (Chelsea), J Butland (Birmingham), S Caulker (Tottenham), T Cleverley (Manchester United), J Cork (Southampton), C Dawson (West Brom), R Giggs (Manchester United), A Ramsey (Arsenal), M Richards (Manchester City), D Rose (Tottenham), S Sinclair (Swansea), M Sordell (Bolton), J Steele (Middlesbrough), D Sturridge (Chelsea), N Taylor (Swansea), J Tomkins (West Ham)
