Former Coventry City players Stuart Pearce and David Jones have immediately been thrown up as possible new managers of Nottingham Forest following the resignation of Steve McLaren.
The former England manager who was appointed at the City Ground in June resigned after Forest's 3-1 home defeat by Birmingham City today.
According to Radio 5's Pat Murphy, McLaren would not have been the manager by the time, Forest played Coventry at the Ricoh Arena on October 15th. "He was going to walk out anyway, I understand," said Murphy. "He'd hoped to go out on a high note after the game against Birmingham.
"He was upset at not being able to secure two Premier League players on loan terms. The chairman felt the wages would be too high."
Forest Chairman Nigel Doughty also resigned from the club which is fourth from bottom of the Championship table.
