Southampton are thought to be interested in making a bid for out of favour defender Elliot Ward.
The Saints manager Alan Pardew has made offers for two players but has refuse to disclose who they are or where they are from. Elliot Ward and Bristol Rovers midfielder Chris Lines are thought to be the two players involved.
Pardew told Radio Solent, "There's lots of players available in the squad but not many that are good enough for us. We'll have to work hard and see what comes up."
Coventry City are eager to sign Leon Barnett on a permanent contract. The defender has impressed 'City manager Chris Coleman during his loan spell from West Bromwich Albion.
With the Baggies interested in Sky Blues striker Leon Best, it is thought that they will offer Barnett and cash in exchange for Best.
Best is out of contract in the summer and can leave on a free transfer. He has been offered a new contract but has failed to agree terms.
New signing Chris Hussey has already attracted attention from other clubs. Hussey signed a three and a half year contract on Monday, but already there have been several club asking if he is to be available for loan.
Sky Blues manager Chris Coleman said: "We brought Chris Hussey as one for the future because he is, in my opinion, the best left-back in the Conference. In the short time he has been here we have already had three or four enquiries from other clubs asking if we will let him out on loan and we have told them no.
"In Chris we feel we have got someone who is going to turn into a very good player, it's all in front of him and we are looking forward to continually working with him."
