Coventry City players have been sent rainbow coloured laces for their boots for Saturday's game at Port Vale.
Campaigners from The Right Behind Gay Footballers, set up by gay rights charity Stonewall, have sent sets of rainbow coloured laces to all Premier League, Football League and Scottish League clubs for players to wear in their boots in matches this weekend to show support for the campaign.
Stonewall deputy chief executive Laura Doughty said in a press statement: "It's time for football clubs and players to step up and make a visible stand against homophobia in our national game.
"By wearing rainbow laces, players will send a message of support to gay players and can begin to drag football into the 21st Century."
