Coventry City are through to the Third Round of the FA Cup after a 3-0 win against Boreham Wood.
The second round of the FA Cup and Boreham Wood from the National League were the visitors to the Ricoh Arena on a cold afternoon.
Mark Robins made two changes from the side which drew with Crawley Town and had Rod McDonald out with concussion, something he picked up in training on Friday whilst former City player Blair Turgott started for the visitors who had former City youngster Shaun Jeffers on the bench.
Dan Holman had the first shot of the game firing wide of Lee Burge's left hand post. That was at one end and at the other, a Boreham Wood defender went down and Nazon was booked after the referee consulted his assistant.
There was plenty of tussle and bustle from the visitors as Doyle was the next to be booked.
A corner for the visitors came to nothing before Champion was booked for a tackle on Davies, which was the worst of the match so far.
Then in the 26th minute. The game came to life when Grant Smith saved one handedly and the ball came loose for Duckens Nazon to blast into the net.
A great tackle by Shipley conceded a corner but City were able to clear against a side which had no problems and in dishing out the rough stuff.
Turgott won his side a 36th minute corner that Ricky Shakes sent high and wide.
The visitors attacked. City countered and a lovely weighted ball over found Marc McNulty who lifted the ball over Smith and into the net for City's second goal.
A City corner cleared was dealt with as was a shot by the visitors who had another caution which gave Shipley a free kick that he curled just wide
Five minutes were added on and in that Nazon has a shot pushed away for the first of two corners.
Boreham Wood were the first side to have a corner in the second half. That was blasted over. Burge took the goal kick. He found Nazon who played in McNulty on the right. The ball came across the area and there was Jordan Shipley to fire home to make it 3-0 in the 47th minute.
Shipley sent a free kick just wide as Shaun Jeffers warmed up for the visitors.
Stevenson eas playing some great balls for City who had Burge save in the 56th minute and then catch a Turgott cross.
That was the last of Turgott who was replaced in a double change which saw Shaun Jeffers coming on to polite applause from some of the City support who today were housed in the main stand and two blocks of the North Stand
Peter Vincenti and Devon Kelly-Evans were sent on to get some match time in a game that all over bar the shouting.
McNulty hit the post and Vincenti won a corner before Haynes hit a shot from the left which Smith just about caught.
Balanta blasted over with ten minutes left against the Sky Blues who sent on Tom Bayliss for the final seven minutes plus stoppage time.
Vincenti headed at Smith as the acrid smell of a smoke bomb came out of the away end. Biamou, who had the veritable seven shades kicked out of him, missed with a late header as Boreham Wood ended the game with a series of fouls which largely went unpunished by a referee who missed a great deal as City moved into Round Three.
