City Still In Fourteenth Place

Coventry City are still fourteenth in the Championship table despite losing 2-1 at Derby County this afternoon.

Wolves, who travel to the Ricoh Arena next Saturday, still top the division by four points after beating Watford 3-1. Second placed Reading drew 0-0 at QPR whilst Birmingham City in third were also held 1-1 at Sheffield Wednesday.

Fourth placed Cardiff City beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 with former Sky Blue Jay Bothroyd again on target. Fifth placed Sheffield United drew 0-0 at sixth placed Preston North End.

Coventry are seven points clear of third from bottom Watford and nine clear of Southampton who came back to draw 2-2 at home to Swansea City.

Both side Charlton lost 2-1 at Burnley. Elsewhere, former Sky Blue David McNamee was booked for Plymouth in a 0-0 draw at Ipswich. Bristol City beat Barnsley 2-0, Blackpool won 1-0 at Palace to go with Doncaster's 1-1 draw with Norwich City last night.

Former City loanee Lloyd Dyer hit the winner for League One Leaders Leicester City in a 2-1 win at Northampton Town. Liam Davis was bokoed in the game.

Andy Morrell scored for Bury in a 2-1 win at Luton with Paul Furlong finding the net for Barnet in a defeat at Exeter.

Craig Reid continues to find the net and scored another today for Dean Holdsworth's Newport County in a 2-1 defeat at Bath City.

Kevin Kyle, who was released from his contract by City this week, scored for Kilmarnock on his debut in the 29th minute of the game at St Mirren. The match finished 1-1.

Locally, Rugby Town lost 3-2 at to Cambridge City. Gordon and David Kolodinski were the scorers for Tony Dobson's side.

In the Midland Divisision of the Southern League, leaders Leamington lost their first league game of the season when they were beaten 5-3 at home by AFC Sudbury. Jason Cadden's side were 4-0 down at half-time with Wixon scoring twice and goals from Howell and a Heath penalty. Micky Bellingham scored on 52 minutes with Corbett netting on 71 and 80 minutes. In the last minute and in front of a crowd of 639, Howell added his second for a 5-3 win for the visitors.

Nuneaton Town beat Woodford United 2-0, Spacey and former City youngster David Blenkinsopp scored. Atherstone Town drew 0-0 at Leighton Town.

In the Midland Alliance, as well as Coventry Sphinx being beaten 5-4 at home by Friar Lane & Epworth, Racing Club Warwick lost 6-0 at Biddulph Victoria and Stratford Town, who travel to Whitley Bay in the FA Vase next week, came back to snatch a 2-2 draw against bottom side Oldbury United.

Former City Reserve teamer Gary McPhee scored for Barwell in a 1-0 win at Causeway United.

In the Midland Combination Premier Division, Coventry Copsewood lost 2-0 at Knowle and Massey Ferguson were held 2-2 by Heath Hayes. Hanson and Newey scored for the Tractor Makers.

Coventry Amateurs drew 1-1 with Knowle Reserves and Coventry Sphinx Reserves won 4-2 at Barwell.
