City Supporters Enjoy The Goals

Last updated : 24 February 2011 By Kev Monks

Coventry City supporters from as away as York enjoyed an evening of Coventry City goals and talk tonight at the Coventry Transport Museum.

Around fifty City supporters of varying ages enjoyed a film show of Coventry City goals as part of a Coventry Memories night put together by City supporter Dean Nelson, the Coventry City Former Players Association and the Coventry Transport Museum.

With Billy Bell as the master of ceremonies, the supporters watched goals going in starting with City's FA Cup tie against Manchester United.

Goals from the 1960's right up to the likes of Darren Huckerby scoring that goal against Manchester United with loads more in a show lasting well over an hour.

City old boys Ronnie Farmer and Dave Bennett, the only man to play in different FA Cup Finals against the same team, did a question and answer session with Ronnie Farmer speaking highly of Jimmy Hill, despite Hill at one time trying to sell him to Ards in Northern Ireland, whilst Bennett felt that the current first team players would have benefited from the seeing the goals as it would have shown them the passion and committment that is in the club and called for the re-introduction of safe standing as they have in Germany to bring some atmosphere to the Ricoh Arena.

If you missed this excellent evening, there will be another in May.
