Coventry City will face Preston North End in the Johnstones Paint Trophy Northern Area Semi-Final after Preston beat Bury tonight 5-4 on penalties.
The re-arranged Quarter-Final at Gigg Lane saw King fire the Lillywhites ahead in the 25th minute. Skarz levelled in the 62nd minute but six minutes later, Preston's lead was restored through Andy Proctor, watched by a crowd of 2,023. With six minutes to go, Matt Doherty levelled.
Preston went back in front for a third time through Stuart Beavon on 89.24 but a minute and 33 seconds into stoppage time, Steven Schumacher equalised with a 35 yard free kick to send the match to penalties after over seven minutes of stoppage time.
The penalties saw both sides converting their spot kicks until Bury's Gregg Wylde had his kick saved by Thorsten Stuckmann. Graham Cummins scored his to send Preston into the semi-final tie against Coventry City.
The Semi-Final will take place on Thursday January 10th and the game which should be at the Ricoh Arena is live on Sky Sports with kick off at 7.45pm.
