Coventry City will get more cash following a decision by the Premier League to redistribute over one billion pounds to clubs outside of the Premier League, following a vote by PL member clubs and a demonstration by supporters.
The money comes from the £5.14bn televison deal agreed by Sky and BT Sport and and will see an increase of around 40% to clubs like City who get a solidarity payment from the Premier League and more money for the fund that clubs use to subsidise tickets and travel for away supporters, as well as improvements in facilities, grassroots sport and for fan engagement.
Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore said: “This is unprecedented in world sport. You can’t find me another sport that is committed to this level of sharing.
“It’s sharing in the success of English football. And this, in my view, is the right thing to do.”
