Coventry City U18’s had to settle for U18's League 2 National Runners Up after losing 1-0 at Sheffield United
Mark Robins, Steve Taylor, Nicky Eaden, Steve Ogrizovic and former Sky Blues Ian Goodwin, and Bob Wesson joined the City support at Bramall Lane for this U18's League 2 National Final and they saw both sides win corners in the opening fifteen minutes of a game which was attended by a host of scouts.
United had a couple of chances with Smith heading wide from a Norrington-Davies cross from the left in the 27th minute and Tyler Smith, United's biggest threat, firing at Skuza in the 35th minute.
Chris Camwell forced Warhurst into a low save with a cross from the left but United set up a 39th minute move and Jordan Hallam got into the area and drove low into the net.
Smith forced Skuza into a good save for a team whose manager Travis Minnion was to the annoyance of the crowd was getting rather animated.
There was still time in the half for City to clear their lines and Bayliss to win a corner with a long ranger.
There were no changes in personnel and no change of who was the more attack minded.
The Blades had a corner and a Hallam shot go just over before good work from Stedman won City a 49th minute corner.
Skuza again denied Smith. City broke and Hickman won a corner which was headed away by the Blades defence.
Lewis Green fired at Warhurst in the 55th minute and two minutes later, a foul on Finn gave City a free kick on the edge of the area.
Camwell's kick was put out for a corner and Finn headed wide as City put in their best spell of pressure.
A 61st minute corner led to another and Josh Eccles firing into what is the lower tier of the away end at Bramall Lane.
With eighteen minutes left, City won a corner then another through Ford, who had done a good job in defence.
Jak Hickman had to head a corner off the line for a City team which was now having to defend going into the final ten minutes.
Morgan Crowther came on and Stedman fired over followed ab Eccles shot which won a corner and then another.
Both sides made changes late on as the game got heated after Ponticelli was beaten in a one on one but City were beaten at the end of what has been a good season and credit must go to Jason Farndon and Richard Stevens and everyone involved in the U18's set up for what has been a very season.
