City now have three points from their first three matches and are 14th in a division topped by Yeovil Town who won 4-0 at Scunthorpe United.
Tranmere, whom City travel to on September 15th are second after drawing 1-1 with Shrewsbury.
Swindon who beat MK Dons 1-0 at the County Ground are third, just ahead of Stevenage, 1-0 winners at Oldham, Doncaster beaten 1-0 by Crawley and Notts County beaten 1-0 at home by Walsall.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth drew 1-1 with Preston, Carlisle beat Portsmouth 4-2, Brentford beat Crewe 5-1 and Colchester drew 1-1 with Sheffield United.
