The Sky Blues had bid £400,000 for the Republic Of Ireland international who played against City in the League Cup tie last season, but sources in Cumbria, believe that this bid has been increased and that both clubs are not too far away from brokering a deal.
City are on the look out for a keeper with Andy Marshall not likely to make pre-season and Dimi Konstantopolous out until the New Year.
