Cov Vets 5 Northampton Shoemakers 0
In a top secret pitch location Cov Vets secured another win and a first clean sheet in the teams history against a good supporters team from Northampton.
The game was played in a great spirit. Hardly any fouls and both sides played some good football .
Player Manager McKay controversially picked himself to start after missing the last two games.
Playing for the Vets is getting more popular and three players made their debut and we had 2 subs.
Playing in front of the lowest crowd of the season...not one fan, Tony won the toss & let the Northampton lads kick off. Tonys never lost the toss and also has still never taken off the captains arm band.
The Vets started off well but Northampton had the early play and should have taken the lead. Against the run of play the Vets went 1-0 up with Ben scoring on his debut.
Big Andy made it 2-0 with a 40 yard screamer. It gets further back every time he tells you about it. Without doubt it's the goal of the season so far.
Northampton were launching some long goal kicks and Kev and Gav were doing well in the air to win the ball.
Playing at right back Tony was in fine voice. Even at 5-0 he still wasn't happy!
New keeper Martin did well and organised the defence.
At half time Smithy came on and had a great game putting in some great crosses, scoring 2 goals and made Mckay's decision not to play him from the start look stupid
"He who scores goals" Aron scored for the 200th match in a row.
At the end of the game the players left the field to a standing ovation (we wish) and McKay confirmed that he is one of the 4 Managers short listed for the Coventry job.
Man of the match goes to Kev who had a great game at the back.
Speaking to the Home Shopping Channel afterwards McKay
refused to answer questions about starting after missing the last two games but said:"I'm proud of the players today. All the lads put in 100%. Northampton Shoemakers may make good shoes but we put cats in the bin"
