Coventry City are waiting to see if Adam Armstrong and Jacob Murphy will be involved in Saturday's League One game against Scunthorpe United.
Armstrong has a knee ligament strain whilst Murphy has a tight hamstring and speaking about the pair, City boss Tony Mowbray told the Coventry Telegraph: “The latest is it’s a case of wait and see until the end of the week.
“I would hope that it’s positive but you can never tell until they get their boots back on in full training.
“I hope the initial signs are positive. It would be unfair of me to say they are definitely going to be all right for the weekend because all they need to do is go out there and start the warm up and think they’re going to do a day’s training and after two minutes come off because they can feel it.
“That’s what happened this week so it would be folly for me to say whether they will be OK or not at this stage.
“Adam’s is a tweak on his medial ligament in his knee, slipping on the ice in training last week which opened his knee up a little bit. But he has been scanned and it’s only mild so let’s wait and see.
“Jacob’s is general soreness with his hamstring which is a bit tight. I think it’s the sheer volume of work for both boys really who have never played as much football in their lives.
“We’re at the point now where we have to realise they are not robots and can’t keep playing at the intensity we’re asking them to for a whole nine or ten months of the season.
“So sometimes it’s not a bad thing to have some time off the intensity of match days and hopefully it will help re-charge their batteries for when they do come back in.
“Hopefully we can add some players who can give us more options and enable us to give them a natural breather by taking them out of the firing line a bit.
"Particularly Adam who has taken on the burden of scoring the goals for the team and yet he’s still 18 until next month.
“Sitting down and talking to him, he acknowledges he’s never played so much football. He’s a very robust young man but a week off won’t do him any harm, I’m sure.”
