Coventry City are to try to sign out of favour Stoke City striker James Beattie in an attempt to bolster the strike force that failed to get many goals for the club last season.
James Beattie and Stoke manager Tony Pulis fell out over personal issues at the end of 2009. Since then the striker has been unsettled and has wanted to move to another club.
The 32 year old Beattie has had his career blighted by a series of injuries and has had spells of indifferent form, but when he is in form, he can be a prolific scorer.
