The talented Republic Of Ireland international is out of contract next June and City are hoping that a new deal can be agreed.
"I have been talking to Keiren and the chairman has been talking to his representatives," said Aidy Boothroyd to the CT. "It is almost like a Mexican stand-off with people waiting to see what everyone else does.
"He's a fantastic goalkeeper and there will be interest but those people interested need to pick up the phone and we will decide what it is we are going to do.
"But as far as I am concerned I expect him to not only be starting on Saturday but to be with us throughout the season.
"I'm a sure we will tie it up either way before January, and with a bit of luck it will be in our favour."
