Coventry City started their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 win at Sutton United

On a baking hot day at Gander Green Lane, against a club which Mark Robins is using as a feeder club,  Michael Doyle, Dominic Hyam, Stuart Beavon, Kyle Finn and Liam O'Brien in goal all did well in a first half, where the home side started off winning a number of corners.

The whole team in the grey away kit, was changed at the end of a goal-less first half in a game watched by a couple of hundred City supporters in a crowd of 1,076.

City had a Vincenti header go close in the 49th minute and another effort go wide before the hour mark through Jordan Shipley.

Against his former club, striker Max Biamou, who looked quite useful, in the 76th minute tried to lob the keeper who parried his effort. Biamou reacted but his over head kick went wide of Ross Worner's right hand post.

A minute later and Biamou drove at the keeper but Jodi Jones was slow to follow up and the ball was cleared.

Ryan Haynes limped off with a knee injury, following a hefty whack, with seven minutes to go and was replaced by Darragh Leahy.

City were the better side in the second half and they took the win in the 86th minute when Greg Moorhouse ran through and fired home.
