City's Owners To Appeal Latest Court Decision

Last updated : 24 July 2017 By CNS Sport

Coventry City have confirmed that Otium Entertainment Group, Sky Blue Sports & Leisure and Avro Master Trust will appeal the decision made in Birmingham High Court on July 14th to throw out their claims.

The companies which own Coventry City went to court with a plan to basically try and bankrupt Wasps by getting them to pay £30m more for the Ricoh Arena, which they then wanted on the cheap, whilst claiming compensation from Coventry City Council for loss of revenue etc, which was rejected on all three counts.

The club have released the following statement: "Coventry City Football Club can confirm to supporters that it has been made aware that the owners of the club have decided to appeal against the judgement of the High Court made on Friday 14th July.

The club and its staff continue to fully focus on the day-to-day running of the football club, with the aim of a successful season alongside Manager Mark Robins and the squad of players he is assembling.

The club and its staff will continue as ever to work with ACL/Wasps and its staff to ensure the smooth running of the Sky Blues’ matchdays at the Ricoh Arena, and the improvement of the matchday experience for our supporters.

We can also confirm that Coventry City Football Club is not liable for any further court costs, nor have we paid any costs associated with previous court actions taken by the club owner."

However, this is Coventry City we are talking about and with Otium and Sky Blue Sports and Leisure having no visible means of income other than from CCFC, whilst the Avro Trust has a debenture on the club which means it obtain revenue from things like club website hits,  believe what you want to believe
